Colbrand’s typical Dutch products such as chocolate sprinkles and flakes appealed to the visitor’s imagination at the international SIAL fair in Paris. To some it was a nostalgic trip down memory lane, to others it was a completely new experience. In addition, Colbrand presented a world first: a new line of syrups with less or even no sugar at all.

"Without exception, our chocolate sprinkles and flakes made the Dutch visitors living abroad feel nostalgic”, says Colbrand’s cco Mario van Stijn. "Obviously, the non-Dutch visitors of the fair don’t have these feelings. Surprisingly fast they linked our toppings to other applications which are relevant to them, such as pastry. So our tasty products do appeal to their imagination."

World first: syrups without sugar

At SIAL visitors could for the very first time taste the new Colbrand syrups that contain 30% less or even 0% sugar. Mario van Stijn: "The new syrups are in line with the trend in which consumers increasingly make their choices based on a healthy lifestyle. As a private label provider, we follow this trend and respond to the growing demand. Reactions were very positive. In particular, the two sugar-free syrups we presented, in ice tea peach and strawberry raspberry flavor, were popular. In fact, we had to explicitly mention that the syrups are sugar-free, otherwise most of them would have missed that."

New contacts in over 25 countries

Colbrand’s qualitative, traditional Dutch products are delighted worldwide. This is proven by the many new contacts that were established at SIAL. "We have contacts with companies in over 25 different countries who are interested in our products. This enables us to realize our ambition for further international growth."
