Typical Dutch products like chocolate sprinkles, flakes and aniseed comfits are a big hit abroad. This was evident at PLMA, the world’s largest private label trade show, which took place at the end of May in Amsterdam. Whether visitors came from the UK, the US or Israel, they all were very inspired by a tasting at Colbrand’s exhibition stand.
This is a very satisfying outcome for Colbrand’s CCO Mario van Stijn. “PLMA is a wonderful opportunity to present our products to various parties. Big, renowned companies were especially looking to visit our stand. It was a great experience to inspire them with our products and to engage a personal conversation on how we can help them, for instance by product development.”
It’s hard to say if a Brit will prefer a sandwich with chocolate sprinkles over his typical English breakfast from now on, yet their interest in these products was no less there. “The application possibilities are, of course, much wider. Sprinkles and flakes can very well be used as toppings or decoration on other products. Furthermore, trade fair visitors told us they were quite impressed by the quality of our products”, says Van Stijn.
Such interest confirms that there is an international market for Colbrand’s bread toppings, but also for its syrups, breakfast cereals and pastry toppings. “We produce tasty, high quality products which provide happy moments at breakfast and lunch tables, not only in the Netherlands but also in many other countries. That's why we aim to expand worldwide. Initial contacts have been made to achieve this ambition.”
